I like President Chavez sentiments, however sentiment is not truth. Early Marxists also championed socialism as the solution to poverty, only to leave the poor in a worse situation with tens of millions dead. Sure, elements of socialism are necessary to achieve social justice and harmony, since despite from free market ideologs will tell us, capitalism is not a fair system. The solution howeve is not to abandon capitalism in favour of some sort of Bolivarian dream, since history shows that despite the best intentions of socialism and communism, they can not generate the necessary wealth or spirit to ignite true change and true freedom.
